Table tennis in Berlin at the Sportcenter Wittenau

Table tennis is much more than just a pastime for the school break. It is the fastest rebound sport in the world, a training for reflexes and strategy - and above all great fun for all ages.

To ensure that your visit to us in Berlin-Reinickendorf goes smoothly, we have compiled all the important information and expert tips for you here.

Equipment, shoes & plates

Do I have to bring my own rackets and balls? No, that is not absolutely necessary. We know that many of our guests come by spontaneously. We offer high-quality rental equipment at our counter in the entrance area:

Which shoes are allowed on the pitches? We attach great importance to the care of our floors. Therefore, please wear clean indoor shoes with a light-colored sole (non-marking). Running shoes or street shoes can leave streaks. Find out what else you need to look out for in table tennis shoes here.

How many people can play on one plate? Our basic fee applies for up to 4 people. Traditionally, the game is played in „singles“ (2 players) or „doubles“ (4 players). Are you planning a „round robin“ with more friends? No problem! We only charge a small surcharge of €4.00 per session (45 minutes) for each additional player.

Rules of the game & technology

Ping pong or table tennis - isn't that the same thing? Colloquially, yes, but historically and technically there are exciting differences between competitive sports (spin, tactics) and recreational fun (socializing). Both groups are welcome at the Sportcenter Wittenau! Find out the detailed difference between ping pong and table tennis here.

What are the basic rules? If it's been a while since your last game, here's the most important information in brief:

What rules apply in doubles? Four players often have the most fun, but the rules are stricter than in singles (e.g. the strokes must be alternated and the serve must be diagonal). Our guide to the official doubles rules.

I'm a beginner - how do I get better? Don't underestimate the small table! An hour of table tennis burns a lot of calories and trains hand-eye coordination.

Background knowledge: The ball Did you know that the production of a 3-star ball is absolute precision work? Quality makes a difference to the fun of playing. A look behind the scenes: How table tennis balls are made.

After the game: relaxation & enjoyment

Is table tennis also suitable for children? Absolutely! It is the most beginner-friendly backstroke sport of all and promotes motor skills and concentration. Many families from Berlin-Reinickendorf use our tables at the weekend for a tournament together.

Can we eat something after sport? Sport makes you hungry. Directly connected to our center you will find the Trattoria „Maria & Salvatore“. Enjoy authentic Italian cuisine - whether it's a crispy pizza or a cool drink on the outdoor terrace to toast to victory.

Is there a way to relax? Yes, after the match you can use our well-maintained Sauna, to loosen up your muscles and prevent sore muscles. Just let us know when you check in (fee: € 10.00 or only € 3.00 on weekdays after 5 pm). Don't forget your towel!

Do you have any further questions? Our team is available by telephone at 030 / 403 50 60 at any time. We look forward to your visit!

Only use indoor shoes!

Please bring shoes that are suitable for sports halls and only put them on before entering the tennis and badminton hall or the squash courts.

It is forbidden to play with street shoes, shoes with abrasive soles or outdoor sports shoes (e.g. jogging shoes > increased risk of injury).

Ash court shoes are prohibited in the entire facility (including changing rooms). Not only do they get dirty, they can also make the floor very slippery, which can lead to injuries.
